Borseggi works with a community of disabled persons, who make hand-made notebooks covered in beautiful Italian paper. This time, they used SHIMA-SHIMA fabric, adding a ribbon-tie to secure the book.

May 10th was a warm and sunny Sunday, and Borseggi participated in an outdoor event at Serra Comunitaria, in the Naviglio area of Milano. There were various organisations that offered foods, plants, paintings, textile-printing activities, as well as live music.
Borseggi sold hand-sewn bags and aprons, that were made by inmates at Opera Prison in Milano. Included in their collection were bags made of SHIMA-SHIMA fabric that Kokura Creation had donated.

On May 9th, Bagatti Valsecchi Museum hosted the Fuori Orticola event, with EXPO Chef-Ambassador Davide Oldani, who spoke about how to use fresh herbs. Borseggi provided hand-sewn bags filled with herb plants. The beautiful 19th century salon was filled with visitors who were interested in learning about Chef Oldani’s thoughts on cooking. In particular, all were surprised to learn that one should use plain water to prepare risotto, not broth !
After the session, everyone wandered around the grand house-museum, to admire the beautiful rooms which have been open to the public since 1994.

I decided to design some bags that could be used to carry prosecco bottles. Made of sturdy denim, with pockets in SHIMA-SHIMA fabric, they are perfect for the summer picnics in the countryside.
Of course, they are quite versatile, and can be used as casual shoulder town-bags.

There are many artisans in Italy, who take on custom orders. One such person is Paola Gianni, who creates custom-order lampshades. She had made the prototypes for the fabric elements of the G x L lamps, which were shown at Isetan. Her studio is filled with wire frames, tape, braid, fabric and even fur.
The G x L lamps have 3 separate sections; fabric stretched over a wire frame to the left, acrylic frame covered with Japanese Mino paper in the center, and a wooden box to the right. Paola had the wire frames made in precise dimensions, then stretched the fabric over the frame. Each section was made by different craftspersons, who have had years of experience, and the results were excellent.
