Oh bej! Oh bej! and Christmas Festivities in Milano

Oh bej! Oh bej! is an outdoor Christmas market that takes place from December 5~8. This market was established in 1510, to celebrate Sant’ Ambrogio, the patron saint of Milano. “Oh bej! Oh bej!” means “how nice! how nice!” in Milan dialect, to express the delight of the children upon seeing the sweets and other goods that were sold at this fair. Nowadays, the vendors still sell the same kinds of sweets that were sold in the past.

Also at Piazza Duomo is the annual Christmas Market, which sells foods and gifts, continuing through January 6, 2016. Piazza Duomo, Galleria and Piazza Scala are beautifully decorated. There are many special concerts and exhibitions during the holiday season.
