Visitors at GOODESIGN 2013

Thanks to all who visited our SHIMA-SHIMA space!

We enjoyed a steady flow of visitors to our space throughout the event.
There were people from the design industry, journalists, people
who were interested in the Goodesign event, as well as children.
I quickly lost count, but I believe that several hundred people may have visited us
during the 6-day event!

I thought that a good way to introduce Japanese culture would be to teach origami,
using our SHIMA-SHIMA origami-paper.
At first I had planned to hold origami classes for only one hour during the 12-hour day…
.. but to my great surprise, origami is very popular here in Italy,
and many people were eager to learn to this craft.
So I held sessions throughout the day & evening.

I was pleased that there were many people who took photos of our space;
the tubes of SHIMA-SHIMA fabrics, the towels, the cushions made in prison,
and even the origami storks…

Since “a picture is worth a thousand words”, I have posted the photos from Goodesign 2013.

These 2 photos below were taken by Alessandra and Fabio.
One evening, I noticed a man posing in front of our tubes of fabric…
..what on earth are these people doing???
Fabio was inspired by the”poufs” of fabric that were inserted into the tubes,
and turned them into his “hat” !
Thanks for the unique photos, Fabio you look like a Renaissance painting !
