For the 4th year, SHIMA-SHIMA participated in the Interior Lifestyle show, which was held on June 4~6 at Big Sight, Tokyo. This year 819 companies had participated, 607 Japanese and 212 international companies, attracting 27,827 visitors.
Although the space was not large compared to other trade shows, the quality was quite high, and here were many beautiful and innovative products, interesting works by young designers and international presence. There was great energy due to signs that the Japanese economy is recovering at a quicker pace than anticipated earlier this year. This spring, we launched a line of apparel and accessories, which can be seen on our site. We have also worked with other companies that have used our fabrics to develop their product line. KIYA, a Japanese cutlery manufacturer that was established in 1792, showed a line of aprons and tote bags made of SHIMA-SHIMA fabric.

KIYA & Co, Ltd. used our fabric to create a line of aprons and tote bags
Last month, I visited the SHIMA-SHIMA shop in Kokura city, on Kyushu,
which is the southernmost island of Japan.
It was a beautiful summer day,
Kokura was picturesque with blue skies, a river that flows through the city,
and green mountains in the distance.
Kokura has a population of under one million inhabitants,
but has quite a large surface area, so one has the feeling of “space”,
that is lacking in Tokyo.
SHIMA-SHIMA shares a large shop with NUNO,
an innovative Japanese fabric company with which they have been working for many years.
There were fabrics, as well as a numerous beautiful products.
In April this year, SHIMA-SHIMA had launched a new collection of apparel and accessories.
I hope you enjoy seeing the photos I took during my visit.
