The school, Carl Malmsten Furniture Studies, offers 3 year programs in Furniture Design,
Cabinet-Making, Furniture Upholstery and Furniture Conservation.
It is situated on Lidingö, a beautiful island in the Stockholm archipelago.
Designer Charlie Styrbjörn who designed the Göteborg collection for IoU Design,
is a graduate this fine school.
Thanks to Charlie, I was able to meet the head of the Furniture Upholstery Program,
Sara Lindqvist, who provided valuable information regarding how
the SHIMA-SHIMA cushion covers should be sewn.

Here are some photos from various companies that had exhibited at Stockholm Furniture Fair
last month.
Although this show was on a smaller scale compared to other design fairs,
there were many memorable exhibitors.
It was quite interesting to see the Scandinavian taste for simple lines and lively colors.

SHIMA-SHIMA participated in Stockholm Furniture Fair,
and was represented by IoU Design,a Swedish charity project
which produces beautiful wooden garden furniture.
Actually this was our second collaboration as we had worked together
last year during Milano Fuori Salone.
IoU used SHIMA-SHIMA fabrics for their cushion covers, and Borseggi had
the covers sewn in Opera prison, in Milano.
It was the start of an exciting joint-project between Sweden, Japan and Italy.
IoU received many good reviews, and we look forward to our next project together,
which will be the Milano Salone 2014.
Here are some photos from the fair.
